Nike Loves doing beer-themed collabs! These Nike Dunk Low SB Newcastle are not an official collab though; rather they are a send up to the brand known for its brown ale. These were hyped up as the second coming of the Heineken SB Dunk, but never became as valuable. This is surprising, since the colorway is easy to get dirty and finding clean pairs is tough these days.
When I was first getting into collecting sneakers but hadn’t yet made my first purchase, I was researching and stumbled upon the Heineken SB and wanted them immediately. However, they cost so much that I instead went for these, which at the time were the newest SB Dunk to drop and also beer-themed. I’ll never forget this shoe as pretty much the one that opened the door to me being a sneakerhead!
These may be tan and yellow, but they are surprisingly easy to incorporate into an outfit! My two approaches are either to go total lumberjack with a flannel and some dark denim or summertime status with a light colored top and some medium wash jeans. For some reason the super light wash denim I normally try to wear with everything doesn’t really work with these.
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are so nice, especially compared with later SB releases. Some say the gold box era marks the beginning of the end for Nike SB. However, these still maintain a great level of butteriness on the suede/nubuck and leather that comprises the shoe. Gold box clearly still has many standout releases. Additionally, these are considered a premium release and it is reflected in the material quality.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike Dunk Low SB Newcastle fits true to size and are very comfortable. I find the shape on these to be ever so slightly longer and narrower than previous releases, but not enough to affect fit. These still have the older dunk tooling and definitely look proper on feet.
